2016 Manitoba Gospel Jamboree Lineup
This band of siblings from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, is no ordinary run of the mill group! The bond between them shines the moment they step on stage together. From ages 9-14, the band plays family-friendly music from top 40 hits to old-time country favourites mixed with gospel and blues, even some orchestral quartet pieces along with a number of their own compositions! The Sundrops have performed in many Jamborees and theatres across Saskatchewan and Alberta, extending into Manitoba and into the USA. Bringing Glory to God is important to this group as they know it is God who has blessed them to do what they do!
Melodie Dawn Loewen
Her first name is Melodie but most people know her by her middle name, Dawn. She was introduced to Southern Gospel music as a little girl when she joined her dad to sing at churches, prisons and other places. Soon joined by mom and older sister the family started singing with her dad when she was still quite young. They sang at churches all over Western Canada and a little in the United States. They sang together till the kids were all grown up. Now Dawn's desire is to follow God wherever He wants her to go and to know Him completely. See more at www.melodiedawnloewen.com
The Fraser Family
New this year is another family of 7 from northern Minnesota. They have been involved in full-time in Native North America since 1993 and have had the privilege of meeting, working with and alongside First Nations people in Canada and the U.S sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and encouraging each other in our walk with him. Serving the Lord as a family has been a wonderful adventure, including opportunities through Gospel Bluegrass music to sing and share the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Their music includes fiddles, guitars, banjos, mandolins'harmonicas, a resonator guitar and an acoustic bass guitar. See more at www.frasernotes.com/music/
This Christian music group was formed back in 2002 and has been entertaining audiences since that time by sharing the Gospel message through inspirational music. They perform mostly in the South-East area of Manitoba, at church events, fundraisers, gospel festivals, local fairs, Siloam Mission and the occasional Christmas party or special Anniversary celebration. Their repertoire has consisted of different musical genres; from old hymns, country gospel, contemporary praise and worship music, as well as a handful of original material. The group released their debut album in 2007 and are hoping to get back into the studio again in the near future. The faces in the group have changed over the years but the message and motto has remained the same “It is our Soul Purpose to Worship Him, to Lift Him up in Song.” See also: www.facebook.com/soul.purpose.manitoba/
After being one of our favorite guests at the 2015 Jamboree we were pleased to have Janet as a first time vistor at the Beausejour Gospel Night in February 2016.
This Steinbach group was a big favorite at the 2015 Jamboree and is always willing to come and bless us when we invite them. Wanda and her crew are most cherished friends of Gospel Music Night.
Stirling & Yvette Ranville
Stirling Ranville is a Metis singer of country and gospel music who became an important figure on the Winnipeg country-music scene in the early 1970's and was the founder of the longest-running weekly gospel coffeehouse in Winnipeg's North-end. His personal testimony is "I was born to preach the Gospel of Jesus!" He certainly does this well with his guitar and singing whether with his wife Yvette or others who are blessed to play with him for his Lord.
The Johnson Family
The Johnson family consists of parents Brady and Angela with their 4 children, Bryden, Brett, Bryce and Amelia. They have been singing as a family for many years and have travelled all over Manitoba and also into Saskatchewan and Alberta. Their ministry has included festivals, concerts, banquets, and many more events. They love to share music that glorifies God and tells of His great love for us.
A blend of traditional bluegrass and sweet gospel music to delight the senses, several gifted artists come together to bring hope back for all to hear. Paul Bezilla, Cynthia Hiebert, Pat Wakshinski and Laurie McPherson still play songs of good times and hard times, songs of hope and joy. See more at www.stillstanding.ca
Local business owners of Beausejour Music: John and Gail are also familiar to many as The Dreamcatchers Band. We have a couple of their CDs, with one pictured here. They are mainly Country and Country Gospel. They’re also good friends of Town Radio, Beausejour and are happy to receive CDs on our behalf at their store on Third Street South. They’re typically open afternoons if you need some guitar strings, or are interested in music lessons.
Wendell Koop & Rosalie Madden
The band this year brings back Rosalie Madden with her silky voice. Back 1991 singer, songwriter Wendell Koop, still freshly
retired from an unsuccessful stint of rock stardom enlisted the services of his
nephew Matthew Koop and longtime friend and associate Darrell Reimer to help
him with some Special Music for a Sunday morning worship service. We are blessed to hear them in previous
jamborees as well as Gospel Music Nights at Elim Baptist Church.
